FDNY Islamic Society Hosts Bukhari Kids Fire Safety Day

July 12th, 2026

On Sunday, July 12th, the FDNY Islamic Society and Bukhari Community Center hosted Bukhari Kids Fire Safety Day, a free event welcoming families for a fun, hands-on introduction to fire safety. Kids met Muslim firefighters, climbed aboard a real FDNY fire truck for photos, and were joined by the FDNY Deputy Commissioner, who came out to support the community.

The day featured safety lessons on smoke detectors, home escape plans, and calling 911, alongside games, free ice cream, a toy raffle, and gifts for every child.

Bukhari Kids Fire Safety Day is part of the FDNY Islamic Society's ongoing mission to strengthen ties between the Muslim community and the FDNY while teaching kids the safety skills that keep them protected.

The FDNY celebrates Ramadan with an Iftar Dinner at Department headquarters

March 5, 2026

The FDNY held a Ramadan Iftar Dinner on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Department headquarters in Brooklyn, bringing members together for an evening of reflection.

"Tonight, we aren't just colleagues. We are family sitting down at a table. During my years with the FDNY, I have learned that our greatest strength is our ability to rely on one another regardless of our background," FDNY Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore said.

"It is such an honor to be here with all of you," Mayor Zohran Mamdani said. "I look out in this room, and I see some familiar faces. I see many new ones, as well. What I do see at every single table, as well as with those standing, are firefighters and EMS members who serve our city every single day."

The event was hosted in partnership with the FDNY Islamic Society.
